Thou shalt not steal (especially in a church yard)
I just had to get my camera out of the car when I came out of the church yard to take a shot of this squirrel. He was perched on top of a gravestone and eating something he had managed to steal from somewhere nearby! It really made me smile! I had been to see some elderly people who attend the soup and coffee event that is held in the vestry at the church in Elstow as I hadn't been there for ages. Some kind volunteers prepared this for about 10 people or more so that they can meet and have a chat and have a hot drink, soup and some cake. I was there to warn them about some scams that seem to be prevalent at the moment because they target vulnerable elderly people and I don't want them to become the victims. I also chatted to them about tips to help them improve their memory which also allays the fears of elderly people who worry about dementia. Elderly people often worry that they can't remember why they went in to a room to get things but can't remember what they went for but this is quite normal unless it prevents them from carrying out their normal activities. I also went to tell them about some warm home and safety products that I have to offer people on low income benefits such as Pension Credit. I put in a bid for £1,000 to buy things like cold room alarms, wind up torches in case of power cuts, thermal vests and kitchen timers so that they ensure that they cook a hot meal without burning their pans! It's always nice to be welcome at such events and I often get new clients this way because I may go to deliver something but find when I get there I can help with so many more things, such as getting the Bobby Man to fit a door chain, etc.
Thanks to everyone for your kind comments and Favs.
Ha ha !! I do love your caption Rosie !! and a beautiful shot of the little fellow enjoying his snack ! You must feel good when you have had the opportunity to help your clients !
That is a very cute squirrel (thief). Great timing again. I also think it is wonderful that you are helping out the elderly too. It is good to let them know about current scams that could take advantage of them. And to make sure they are safe. In my job we offer a free service to replace smoke alarm batteries, or even install one for free. We also do some visits to educate about fire danger in the home. It is always a pleasure to help them out.
@beryl@thresheg@susanalena Thanks @karlow75 Thanks - yes it is good to help them and the Bobby Man also fits smoke detectors when he's there but if they need a specialised one, e.g. if they are deaf I refer them to the fire service
He's a beautiful two tone fellow. Your group visit sounds great. We used to call going into a room and not knowing why 'labnesia'. We worked on a long corridor with laboratories off it and a glassware wash up room at the end - I worked at the opposite end to the wash up and would often find myself in there with no idea what I wanted!

@judithg We all do it don't we! Thanks
