The poor birds today have seen some awful weather and this goldfinch was balancing precariously on top of a branch swaying about in a very strong wind. We had horizontal rain this morning and the wind was so strong. When I finished work, the sun was shining so I thought I must take advantage and go for a walk along Wood Lane. However, it was freezing cold. The wind has changed direction and snow is forecast but we are usually lucky in Bedfordshire and don't tend to get very much.
I feel so sorry for the birds that I took some food up with me and scattered it in the grass. I hope the birds recognise that I'm a good person when I am pointing my camera at them and pose nicely for me! LOL. I saw a pair of bullfinches and a flock of redwings and it was nice to see that the bullfinches are to be found so close to where I live so I hope they breed and stay around my area. I did get some shots of them but they weren't very good which is why I haven't posted them. I may post one in my Extras album when I've got rid of a branch that is obstructing the bird just as a diary shot.
Thank you for your kind comments and Favs. I've been overwhelmed with work for the past few days but hope to catch up with you all soon.
What a good shot - shows up the markings of this sweet goldfinch. They are having a happier time in this part of the world right now gobbling up the grass seeds in the summer hay paddocks.
