I went up to the RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds for those not living in UK) Headquarters to buy some nesting material as the birds are starting to build nests in the garden. I couldn't believe it when they told me in the shop that they didn't stock it and I would probably need to buy it on line or they could order some and get it delivered to me. Why does an organisation who relies on people buying things in their shop not stock something like this? They are supposed to be the specialists!
Anyway, I went to the hide and saw this little fellow and his wife came too. Then he had a fight with a squirrel. I think it was over the food that was dropping from the seed feeders.
Today would have been my Mum's birthday and my Dad used to bring home pheasants that he had killed in the fields as he was a farmer. I don't like to think about him doing that now but this one's for you Mum.
Best on black if you have time. Thanks for all your kind comments and Favs - it is always much appreciated. I'm off to Camera Club tonight but will try to catch up later.
Pheasants are such beautiful birds, we have one that comes to our bird table. Pheasants round here are bred for the shoot so hard to know what side I am on. I hate shooting but it's a way of life & gamekeeper does do good things in the countryside....some estates round here have so much wild life you are nearly tripping over the pheasants!
Never heard of buying material for nests. Maybe because I live in an area where there is tons of natural material for them. But what a lovely capture of this bird.
