We had a lovely chap called Gerhardt as a guide in Bavaria and he brought us this lovely little beaver to photograph. He put it down in a meadow and I was surprised that he didn't run off. Apparently, one had been lost earlier but this little chap was a young one. I think he said about 11 months old. Beavers have funny little teeth and in this shot Gerhardt is holding him before putting him down on the ground. I was surprised to learn that he eats carrots and apples. It was great to be able to see him at close quarters and I did give him a stroke.
Hope you got a shot of the tail. That has always amazed me, especially when you hear one out in the water slapping it against the surface. Terrific shot. Those claws are scary looking. :-)
@rickster549 Actually, I didn't manage to get a shot of his tail because a lot of my other pics he is peeping through the grass. I agree though that his tail is quite amazing!
