I had forgotten that it is half term this week and when I arrived at RSPB there were loads of cars there and lots of children. The lady in the information centre knows that I like taking photos and she suggested that I walk over the heath on the opposite side of the road. She showed me the way that I could get to the quarry where there are little owls so off I went. It was quite a long walk and I found the gates to cross the road (avoiding the lorries going to the quarry) and made my way across another field, down some steps and up some more. I wasn't really sure that I was in the right place but as I got to the top, I had a fabulous view over the quarry.
If it hadn't been for a nice chap called Tim, I would never have found the little owls but as he saw me coming, he waved me forward and his camera was pointing into the quarry. It was fantastic to see the lovely little owls and although I had 600mm on my lens, it really wasn't enough! They were quite far off. However, I took some shots anyway and I will post a couple.
This yellowhammer was seen on the way back and there were lots of birds along another path that he showed me. I didn't see any stonechats that also live on the heath but fingers crossed, next time!
Thanks for all your kind comments and Favs - it is always much appreciated and thank you for getting yesterday's singing robin on PP.
