This is the first red admiral that I've seen this year and it was in the front garden. Steve always thinks that the red admiral is something to do with his late mother as one used to sit on her and also the butterfly tends to sit on him. In this shot it was sitting on a piece of wood but after I had taken it's photo it flew off into the hedge and then disappeared.

always good to see the Red Admiral around. Strange that they seem to have been attracted to both Steve and his mother. How lovely to catch this one with wings wide open.
