ROK_5015 Hoopoe from October 2014

I saw this hoopoe in Wood Lane when I went for a walk and a man stopped in a car and asked me whether I was going to see it. I didn't really know what a hoopoe looked like as they are not usually seen in UK but I thought it must be something really nice to see. Anyway, without further ado, when he invited me to step into his car, I did! I must admit, looking back, it was rather silly of me because he could have been an axe murderer!
Anyway, he drove all the way along Wood Lane and when we got out of the car, a lot of people were standing photographing this unusual bird. It was a very exciting day! He spent about 5 days up there and people came from all over the country to see him. I felt very privileged to have had him in my village.

Thanks for all the kind comments and Favs. It is always much appreciated.
Nice bird!

Very silly of you Rosie, but you would not have had this fabulous shot. We have them on the golf course, but I was never able to see them close. Fav

A wonderful find in the UK. I know there are some in the south. The only time I have seen them was in Cyprus. Fav!! 😀
