Well that's the nails done, I had better make sure my hair is alright!
This farmer was trimming the sheep';s nails! The poor sheep was laid on his back in a kind of metal harness that had him strapped in - a bit like something off a ride at the fair! I said to the farmer that I've never seen anything like this before and he said that it is hard work and I can well believe it as he had quite a few more sheep to do. This one was guided into a different field by the farmer's daughter who looked about 9 or 10. I thought that was rather nice seeing them working together.
It has been lovely weather today and I've walked well over 4 miles which has been so nice. Anyone following me would think I was mad as I often sing to myself when there's nobody about. It was a lovely day to burst into song! No wonder the birds sing when it's sunny! I think I must be a bird!
If you had said this was animal cruelty I would have said "Noooooo!!!!!!!!!" but seeing as it is little more than a nail polish, I will say "Awwww!!!!" instead.
That's really quite interesting! I don't think I've seen them have their nails trimmed. Sheering, yes- nails- new to me too! I do know that the sheep is probably perfectly content that way as long as he feels secure. I know from a shepherdess friend of mine that sheep are actually quite stupid! Cute, but stupid! As long as he didn't feel threatened, he was probably wondering how he landed in a new world where everything was upside-down- IF he could figure out he was upside-down!
