This is actually a young goldfinch

You wouldn't really know it but I saw on one of my shots the yellow tell tale signs on his wing. Another fluffy little fellow.

I had 3 great spotted woodpeckers on the washing line and feeder but they flew off before I could get a shot of them all. I suspect it was probably the parents with a youngster although it might have been one parent with 2 youngsters but I don't suppose I shall ever know!

Great find, I love these. They sit on the wire by the feeders, chirping like crazy.they hold their bodies dead still but their wings are flitting up and down so fast they almost seem to disappear.
The other day I heard them described as sparrows on steroids. I know what he meant.
