Stumpy seems to be watching me whenever I am in the house or garden. Like the magpie we had in the garden, he seems to have feather mite so I hope it's not catching as I would hate him to give it to other birds. The only mate he has is another male who I call Stripey although I haven't seen much of him lately. Stumpy always seems so sad but I talk to him and he always gets a handful of suet pellets when I am out in the garden.
You are right to be concerned, feather mite if left untreated can cause the birds demise, it can be contagious to other birds as well lets hope not Rosie.
