Same branch but a different bird. This time a female chaffinch. I walked up Wood Lane looking for the yellowhammers but they were not obliging today so I have settled for this little girl
How do you know it's a girl? I had the starlings all stealing the mealworms this morning - so had to lower the top - then I' wasn't sure if ANY of the birds could get to them!

and a Happy Easter to you too Gerry @busylady The male chaffinches have very bright pink breasts Judith which is how I knew this was a girl as they are not so colourful but I like them anyway! Have a look at the feeder tomorrow and see whether any of the mealworms have gone. It's surprising how a very small gap allows the little birds to get them but if it is slightly bigger the starlings steal them all!
