I don't know what kind of hen this little chicken has but she's black and fluffy with a funny kind of tail! I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked at her as she was scratching about in the leaves in the grounds of Danish Camp for there amongst them were 7 little chicks! I went in to tell them in the café as I thought they might not know about them and I was worried they might not survive as I thought they were probably only a few days old. When I came back from my walk, Roy who owns Danish Camp was in the grounds and so I asked him about the chicks. He told me that the hen (who should be in the other pen not wandering about) hatched the chicks a couple of weeks ago and they tried to move them but she was distressed so they left them altogether where they are now. He said that she's a great little mum and is looking after them very well. They are feeding OK so I expect everything is alright and they will thrive. I can't imagine how they survived the frost the other night and I hope the fox doesn't come!
