Yesterday morning before we left for out of town, I heard a constant noise from the river. I thought it was a big bird that was in the area trying to attract a mate. Sooo I went to investigate with camera in hand. This is what I found. I figure the dog had been there for at least 45 minutes, her (bark) was getting pretty weak. I climbed down the rocks to the river, laid down on the ice and reached out to get the scruff of her neck. I didn't know if she would try to bite me or not, she didn't, just let me pull her up onto the ice. Then had to help her up the bank because she was pretty weak in the hips. Her owners live just about 100 yards away so I got to them and they then got her to the comfort of their home. I am just glad I heard her.
That is quite a rescue story and dramatic photo. I am so glad that everyone id OK. How kind of you to reach out and help like that---many kudos to you :o)
Oh Richard, what a news-worthy picture you got and your caption was gripping! Together they spoke volumes; how fortunate you were there and I'm so glad the story turned out well!
Bravo....... I hate to rehash what everyone has been saying, but this act of heroism must be recognized..... I'm sure that she and her owners were glad that you were nearby to hear her cries and brave enough to go onto the ice to save her......
Glad it worked out well for both of you.
