Today I learned that a quadriga is a four-horsed chariot. This quadriga is the largest bronze sculpture in Europe, and is driven by the Angel of Peace (although you can't see her from this angle). It stands on top of Wellington Arch, to commemorate Wellington's victory over Napoleon, and is opposite the former's home, Apsley House.
Interesting, the word.
I had to do some more reading, and look for photographs that would show the chariot and harness, but it seems that an angel doesn't need tack to control four horses, she just stands there waving with a wreath and lets the groom do the work. :)
Magnificent statue. Would be nice to know how it was cast, and how it was lifted to its place ...
@rumpelstiltskin Thank you so much for taking the trouble to find this article, and sharing the link. I am going to return to it, and study the pictures closer. What knowledge of horses, and what skill in commanding the s c a l e of the statue -- the measures. Amazing. Thank you again.

Reading various articles, it seems that the different parts were cast in bronze at a foundry in Thames Ditton, then the sculpture was assembled and hoisted on to the Arch in 1912
