In Bloomsbury

This sculpture of the writer Virginia Woolf stands in Tavistock Square Gardens, in the Bloomsbury area of London. Woolf lived at 52 Tavistock Square from 1924 to 1939, during the period when she wrote Mrs Dalloway, The Waves, Orlando and To the Lighthouse. She moved to nearby Mecklenburg Square in 1939, but it was damaged by a bomb in September 1940, and 52 Tavistock Square was destroyed a month later.
