Johann Joseph Zoffany, RA (13 March 1733 – 11 November 1810)

This is the tomb of the artist Johann Zoffany, who died on this day in 1810. Born Johannes Josephus Zaufallij in Germany, he came to England and enjoyed the patronage of George III and Queen Charlotte. He was introduced to them after moving to a house in Strand-on-the-Green, which is across the Thames from their residence at Kew Palace. Zoffany led a colourful life, was one of the founders of the Royal Academy, and an early painter of colonial rule in 18th century India.

His grave is in St Anne's Church, Kew Green. If you are interested, ArtUK have published this short and entertaining account of his life and work: https://artuk.org/discover/stories/the-quirky-side-of-johann-zoffany
Is he the same Zoffany that has fabric and wallpaper designs?

Great shot. I like these signs of the times on a gravestone.
