For my daily walk, I often head to the fields near the local equestrian centre to watch the horses grazing. Oddly enough, despite living in the area for a few years, I had no idea that there were horses within walking distance of my house. It's a small upside to being locked down.
The horses are a beautiful and calming sight, which has influenced me to choose Black Beauty by Anna Sewell, for today's photo.
Sewell was from a family of Quakers, and she wrote Black Beauty as a plea for the kinder treatment of working horses during the Victorian era.
Anna Sewell suffered from ill health for most of her life, and was mostly bedridden when writing Black Beauty. She died five months after it was published, and it went on to become one of the bestselling works in the English language.
