In recent years, Tate Britain has commissioned a winter installation to decorate the front of the building. This year, the artist Chila Kumari Singh Burman has produced remembering a brave new world which was unveiled in time for Diwali, the Festival of Light, and will be on display until the end of January. It draws upon Hindu mythology, her childhood trips to Blackpool, her parents' ice cream van and colonial history.
Given the year's events, it's cheering to see a colourful celebration of new beginnings and hope for a brighter future. It was announced today that London would be subject to more severe restrictions, so even if the galleries have to close again, we will still be able to admire Burman's work.
