Super shot of this insect architect at work. I have also been following progress on one of these nests - how do they know how to build such a complex structure?
Amazing detail and spectacular architecture. I had a wasps nest removed from my roof once. It was the size and shap of a rugby ball, so good the kids took it to school -without the wasps of course!
I thought that they built these in buildngs, not on plants too. Fascinating. We also had one fall out of the roof when work was being done last summer. Nobody at home. But for the rest of the summer they were eating the siver coloured oak garden furniture for their replacement nest as fast as they could.
