They called him Damascus

Not yet 12 hours old!!! The family were delighted with their newborn, and unexpected visitors (us) added to their excitement and joy. We were invited into their two room home, furnished only with carpets to meet the mother, grandmother, baby Damascus himself and assorted other relatives.
Born into dreadful material poverty and facing a very uncertain future, Damascus was surrounded by a great deal of love from his family.
especially for Katy @grammyn xxx
A beautiful baby boy, such an uncertain future for the youth of the Middle East, my heart goes out to them. Is their worry about the Russian Naval ship on its way to your area Ruth. It was weird seeing it sail down the channel today. Are they going to fire over Lebanon to Aleppo have you heard?

A big name for such a tiny person. I hope that he has some joy in his life.

I like the shortened name "Sham' rather than this long one. He's a cutie with his dark hair. Looks like there is some music coming from his mouth too!

@happypat Pat, I have no idea if they have heard about the Russian ships, the future for anyone in the shanty town where this family now live is very bleak, work is scarce and illegal without expensive paperwork, eduction, food and health precarious and drugs widely available. Grrrr.
