@pamknowler @pflaume @lily @falcon11 @soboy5 @jgpittenger Thanks for your comments, and Meryy Christmas to all of you. I've been told that the white fields have been plowed, and the tan fields have grain stubble taller than the snow. I just love the effect.

December 25th, 2013
@nicolecampbell @monkeykid Breakfast in bed?
December 25th, 2013
What an incredible view Ross, how dis the fields end up like this? It reminds me of Battenberg cake. Do you have that in the USA?
December 25th, 2013
How did.....!! Sausage fingers!!
December 25th, 2013
Wow, what a beautiful shot, Ross. Love the mountains in the background. Beautiful foreground though. Did that make sense? I love the mountains in Idaho, always have. What a different view from what I have ever seen. FAV
December 25th, 2013
@seanoneill I'm told that the white fields have been plowed and the tan fields have grain stubble sticking above the snow. I had to look up Battenberg, so I guess we don't call it that here, but I have seen patterned cakes before. I like the comparison.

@darsphotos Thank you for the fav, Darlene. I had never seen this before either. I think our valley is a pretty special place.
December 26th, 2013
Almost like a living chess board. Great capture
December 27th, 2013
@losthorizon All it needs is your pawn placed in the bottom row!
December 27th, 2013
@rvwalker That would be one big pawn. Hahahaha.
December 27th, 2013
Beautiful! Love the pattern here!
December 28th, 2013

December 28th, 2013
@amrita21 @taffy Thanks, Amrita and Taffy. I never know what will turn up around here.
December 28th, 2013
Ross, that looks like it was taken from around here :) (apart from the sprinkling of white)
A beautiful capture :)

@michelleyoung From what I remember from my visit to Scotland about 45 years ago, there would be stone walls on the hillside. I can just picture the scene! Thanks for a very interesting comment.

Nice

what a wonderful checkerboard pattern; everyone has been reminded of patchwork, and quilts, and chess! Great conversation photo! I'd like to go to Idaho. My husband's mother company is in Boise. It really is beautiful.

@moreyoulessme Boise is like a different world from here. Much more urban with nearby desert, but still really pretty. Lisa @pflaume is from Boise, and her photos are just amazing.
