Black Horse, White Whiskers, Frosty Breath - 6 word story

Every morning has been cold and frosty, so I have enough frost photos to last through July! I walked to a corral near my house to visit this frosty horse and I think he works OK for black and white Wednesday.

Better seen large
Wow! I love this one. I'm glad that you got out.

Great detail, poor frosty pony . I am interested to see your shots as my dad lives in Gaithersburg. I believe it is getting even colder for you.

This is great in black and white.

@brucegrayum @nicolecampbell @parisouailleurs @lucypics @moxy Thanks for all your great comments. The horses seem to do very well in the cold here, and they grow thicker fur in winter.

Beautiful light and detail when enlarged. It works well in black and white I think.

Poor thing looks very cold. Nice shot

Love me some horses! Nice shot! I like the B&W too

He's great in B/W! I love looking at the furry horses this time of year. I saw some great shots yesterday on our drive out to Driggs, but with other people in the car, I was hesitant to stop and take photos. (I was glad they were with me, though, because I did get the car stuck at one point and needed their help in pushing out.)

Certainly is very nice and frosty. Just a touch and great for B and W. nature at its best once again.

@timandelke Thank you for the fav, Elke. Amazing how horses get along so well in the cold around here.

@falcon11 @macromover @kahrag @tesssa @megmills Thanks, everyone. The frost has created a lot of great photo opportunites lately.

@smellychelli Thanks, Michelle. Getting stuck is a way of life around here. I might have set a local record by getting stuck in the snow on June 26 a few years ago!
January 23rd, 2014
great detail!
January 23rd, 2014
Great story and portrait
January 23rd, 2014
Wow, I love this shot!
January 23rd, 2014
Fabulous shot, wonderful detail on the frosty face! I do hope he has shelter somewhere for when he isn't out modeling.
January 23rd, 2014
Excellent bww shot, where you've helped convey this horse's personality. Love those fuzzy whiskers.
January 23rd, 2014
This frosty horse on the rocks looks so wonderful in b&w!
After one week of silence I feel like looking in 365 again is nice. Thank you so much for your follow during the last year, Ross! I so enjoyed your comments. I will go on with photography also in my own project. But only occasionally. So I wish you a good photo-year 2014 ... with a reduced beluga as well :0)

What a fantastic shot. Brr, he looks cold, but doesn't seem perturbed at all.

January 23rd, 2014

January 23rd, 2014
Does look mighty cold.
January 23rd, 2014
Superb capture Ross, fab!
January 23rd, 2014
@linzelcakes Thanks for the fav, Lindsay. I'm amazed how animals cope with our cold climate.
January 23rd, 2014
@grapefruit @kbird61 @sansjuan @taffy @gailmmeek @mccarth1 @soboy5 @hollandcrew @ch1ppy_m1nton Thanks, everyone. As I explore the valley, I see hundreds of horses and cows with no shelter, but they seem to do OK in our cold climate. They grow much thicker fur in winter, so I guess mother nature takes care of them.

@beluga I look forward to everything you post, Beluga. I understand the need to back off a bit. That day is coming for me as well. Best wishes for a relaxing and artistic year. I'm glad you like my frozen horse.

Wow, what a fantastic shot, Ross. I am envious of the snow you are getting photos of and this horse. The detail you captured is amazing. Could have used you to help me with my photo yesterday. FAV
January 24th, 2014
He looks quite adapted to the cold
January 24th, 2014
The cold must affect the livestock Ross? This is such a good shot, the extreme cold is conveyed well.
January 25th, 2014
@darsphotos Thanks for the fav, Darlene. There are lots of horses here, and you will probably see more in the fog and frost soon.
January 25th, 2014
@gosia @peterdegraaff @seanoneill Thanks, everyone. The animals here seem to do OK in the cold as a rule. They always grow thicker fur in winter.
January 25th, 2014
Just beautiful.
January 25th, 2014
