Bear River Transition by rvwalker

Bear River Transition

We are starting to see some open water in a few places on the Bear River, although plenty of other places are still frozen solid. The sunny sides of the hills are losing their snow too, so maybe spring is coming. More snow is on the way later today, so I was lucky to get some blue sky this morning.

I have started adding a copyright notice to my photos, after having two stolen in the past couple of weeks. It won't stop the problem, but at least will leave no doubt that the photo is copyrighted. I hate to do it because it detracts from image quality, but that's the way it goes.

Bear River trivia: This is the longest river in the United States that does not empty into an ocean.

Trending.
Stunning landscape Ross!! Fav!! How do you know your shots were stolen? I hope putting the copyright on stops them.

So dramatic , Ross, because of the clouds. What a sky and what a great leading line in the creek to the mountains and sky.

Fav BTW

Thanks for the fav, Pam. I was tipped off that one of my web site photos was being used by a radio station on their blog. Then, I got curious about a new follower here on 365 and checked her blog. She had used several photos from 365 participants, claiming them as her own. I put a stop to both incidents. Irritating.

It does have a feeling of lightness and spring. Lovely composition.

@taffy Thanks for the fav, Taffy. We had just a short time this morning with a bit of blue sky and are overcast again. The clouds were wonderful!

so beautiful.

Gorgeous!

Love it, what a beautiful photo, Ross. I did not know that it does not empty into the Ocean. Interesting. Love the entire scene. FAV As far as photos being taken, it happens far too often. Can one really stop people from taking photos? All they need to do is crop a photo as I have had a few taken as well. Please, when you have time drop me an email solemdarlene@yahoo.com

Beautiful shot Ross. FAV. Beautifully composed with the river leading the viewer into the shot. Sorry I've been slow commenting lately, life gets in the way sometimes. Glad you were able to stop the people stealing your photos. It is a shame that artists have to worry about thieves!
March 4th, 2014
Great shot Ross and I enjoyed your trivia.

March 4th, 2014
You know I love those clouds! Fantastic view! I didn't know that information about Bear River! I wonder if my boy studied that fact in his Idaho History unit last year? I'll have to ask him!
March 5th, 2014
Two stolen? Yikes. I can see why people would want to steal yours, but ouch. Beautiful scene...sky, leading lines, shapes, textures, but there is something re the composition that doesn't work for me. I've been sitting here wondering how else it could have been composed to work better but can't figure it out
March 5th, 2014
@jgpittenger I wondered about the sweep of empty water in the right foreground. Could that be it? As always, images have different levels of appeal to different people. Thanks for your comment, Jane.
March 5th, 2014
@amandal @ivan @smellychelli Thanks, everyone. This sky was there very briefly before we were overcast again.
March 5th, 2014
I think for me it is something about both vertical and horizontal being weightier towards the center
March 5th, 2014
@jgpittenger Hmmm. I guess this ignores the rule of thirds, placing the hill in the center. I did have other photos with different compositions, but the sky was the clincher to choose this image. Thanks for your insight.
