Classic Cowgirl

CW. Of the two young women roping calves for the branding session, Daysha is the most skilled and experienced, and was a national champion in college rodeo. Her gear is less flashy, and more suitable for hard work, but I think it looks great for a classic B&W approach. I saved this one for black and white Wednesday.
Lovely, Ross. With your text i feel like I'm there!

Wonderful comp and appropriate processing. Love all the detail here.

I like your crop and processing choice. It gives it a timeless feel. And it continues with the sense of how relaxed she is on the horse -- looking at her casual but totally functional placement of her hand.

Again great cropping and details. Love looking at it. The processing just adds to the feel. Beautiful shot.

Beautiful black and white shot. I think the subject lends itself very well to this processing. I like the details in the rope and other equipment. I also like your composition just showing part of the rider and horse.

Love the details you are getting with these close up "saddle" shots. Although nice in B&W, I'd like to see it in color too. It looks like everything would be quite colorful.

This is wonderful in b/w. So glad you are sharing these shots.

@ruthmouch @amandal @taffy @pum71 @pflaume @aglennc @moxy @soboy5 @kbird61 Thanks everyone. Her gear wasn't nearly as colorful as the other young lady's so It just seemed right for B&W.

@libertylady Thanks for the fav, Alice. I love these documentary photos, but they aren't the type of image that gets favs on 365.

Ross, we know Bruce Grayum had his replacement surgery yesterday. Do you know yet how he's doing, how the surgery went? Been thinking about him. Been there, done that!!
April 10th, 2014
@aglennc Hi Anita, Bruce's surgery went well, but he has more problems in that leg than just his knee, so this won't solve them all. His foot does not align properly with the leg bone, and they had to modify his ligaments to move the kneecap into place. He's going to have a rough recovery. I visited him in the hospital this morning and will check in again later today. My wife and I stayed with his wife during much of the surgery. I will tell him you asked about him.

@monkeykid Thanks, Therese. It is kind of a classic subject, so I'm glad you think so.
April 11th, 2014
@rvwalker Thank you. I sent a get well card out to him yesterday. Oh my. It looks like it wasn't JUST a knee replacement then. Please keep us posted.
April 11th, 2014
@aglennc Will do, Anita. He will appreciate the card.
