Two Years, And Time To Go

Today is the end of my second year on 365, and it is time to say goodbye. I may post a photo occasionally or maybe not, but my commenting days are over. This is an amazing community with the best, most supportive photographers I’ve ever been involved with, but it is extremely time-consuming, and other activities have been neglected for the past two years, so it is time to move on. I have avoided adding new follows for the past several months in an attempt to save time, but it just hasn’t worked.

I have been contacted by people from nearly 50 countries and 48 of the 50 states, and have learned so much about your customs around the world. Your photos and personalities have been inspiring. I feel that many of you are friends, even though we haven’t met in person, and have been lucky to actually meet a few of you. I still hope that we can have a 365 meet-up here in the Bear Lake Valley sometime soon, so I can be contacted at idbearlakers@msn.com. My long-neglected web site, blog, and Flickr account are in my profile, and I hope to have more time to bring them up to date now.

Special thanks go to Ross Scrivener for hosting this wonderful site.

The video includes a few of my favorite photos from my project, and it was tough to decide what to include out of more than 800 images. I hope you like it.

Good luck and good shooting.

Ross Walker
good luck Ross - your images were some of the first I came across when I started here and they inspired me - I wish you all the best

A wonderful video portraying some amazing shots, I particularly liked seeing the vast landscapes and your winter shots, together with the rusty old cars. I know we haven't been friends on here for too long and you have been fantastic on commenting on my project, however I look forward to continuing our friendship on Flickr.

Congratulations on 2 magnificent years on 365 Ross. You have been a friend, honest and appreciated critic, and inspiration to me during our time as friends. You are someone whose opinion I trust, who has shown us all your part of the world as it is, without distortion, and I find that refreshing. Though I am away for a short time I will miss you greatly when I return. Good luck my friend, to you and Linda. Montpellier and Linda's gain is very much our loss. Your collection of work in this final post is magnificent, and I think truly reflects where you are from. I am a huge fan of Nimrod, so your choice of it to accompany some exceptional work is inspired! Farewell, I am a better photographer for having made your aquaintance. I hope to see you around on Flickr, but 365 is somewhat diminished by your departure from being a regular here.

I am looking forward to continuing our friendship on Flickr and hopefully, another meeting in Bear Lake or Boise one day. (No excuses... that will happen!) Your slideshow is spectacular. I knew the day was coming and I made sure that before I went to bed tonight, I would check in on you--I did not want to miss this day, even if I wished it would not come. I have to admit it, I'm quite teary over your departure--I have really enjoyed your wonderful critiques, your kindness, your engaging spirit, and your overall stellar character. I know I consider you a wonderful friend--how neat to meet people all over the world and feel like you know them. And your video reminds me of all the things I love about your work--stunning landscapes, wonderful rodeo scenes, animal captures that tell stories, ghost towns, roads with curves, mountains and rolling hills, frozen earth and trees, muted colors, rust, I could go on and on. I love your work. I really do. I will keep in touch. My best to Linda for letting us have your wonderful presence here for so long. I do really hope to meet you in person, and I promise to contact you if I'm anywhere near Bear Lake Valley. Fondly, Daryl

@rvwalker You are welcome, Ross. Sounds like a fun time, camping. All is going ok. We got warm, then hot here and now a one day cool off and then it heats up to 100 next Monday. My park story came to an end when the goose that I adored (Mindy) went missing after seeing her on May 11. We went back a few times without finding her. So, life goes on and we will explore other areas when time permits and go back to the park soon. Take care.

It has been a long time and just checking in to see how you are doing. I have more things to do at home as well, had a lot of computer problems too and bought a new camera that I am slowly learning to use a Sony a6000 mirror less camera. This has been such a great community of people, places and photos. So many of us are on Facebook and keep up that way as we can touch base with so many at once. I hope life is treating you well and you are as happy as every. As you know CA is in a horrible drought. It is so hard to only water our lawn once a week and drip 3 times a week. Our state is sure in a mess and those governing are not dong a good job at all. You are certainly better off not here. Take care.

@darsphotos Hi Darlene. It has been so long since I signed on that I had trouble remembering my password. We are still dealing with my wife's health problems, but other than that are doing OK. I just returned from the Lone Pine, California area on my annual camping trip and it was gorgeous. While you have a drought we have had record rain here. I hope you are doing OK and are able to get out and explore with that great new camera. Have fun.

Hi Ross, so nice to hear back from you. You are funny. I rarely have to sign in unless I use something new so rarely use my password too. What is going on with your wife? I hope she is doing ok and it is not too bad for her. She is lucky to have you. How nice to make your trip to CA. Sounds like fun. If you want nice weather, here is the place to be. We just had a few minutes of rain. The foothills got hail, thunder and lightening. Amazing how unbalanced we are with weather. I am glad you are getting the rain you need plus. My cousin and a couple of friends live in Texas. So glad they were not affected by all their rain and wish we had a way to get some here. I am doing ok. Got sick last weekend, got worse, went to the Dr on Wednesday, got antibiotics, anti nausea meds, cough meds and an x-ray. I have pneumonia. Using my inhaler, coughing a lot, cough drops, kleenex, etc. Hubby comes home at work to get lunch for me. So lucky to have him. Ready to get back out, walk and take photos. I have a lot to learn on this camera. We have a Facebook page that someone set up just for our camera that is a wealth of info and no questions are too simple. Nice people and there is youtube too. Take good care. Just checked above and almost a year since I checked in. Will have to make this an annual thing. Keep in touch as you can. I check in and comment more than I post it seems recently Vacation time, day trips in a few weeks so will have some photos then. Have a great Summer.
