Simeon's Baby Surprise Jacket by s4sayer

Simeon's Baby Surprise Jacket

I finished Simeon's BSJ on 28 December...just before we were going to have supper with all the family. My A(dult) Surprise Jacket, last shown here in the finishing stages on 1 July, has yet to be completed. Whilst I'm realistic enough to admit it certainly won’t be finished this year, it's risen like cream to the top...and should be on screen next year. Fingers crossed behind my back ;-). For knitting afficionados, it's knitted in one piece and joined across the shoulders, like Simeon's, yet has more detailed shaping.

A well-made baby jacket that shows off your knitting talent. I'm sure Simeon will love his new sweater. I like the pattern and colors.

@seattlite
Thank you, Gloria! To be fair, the pattern is not difficult and very affirming for any reasonably experienced knitter. I'm a sucker for items in one single piece with minimum seaming. I want to knit rather than sew seams afterwards. The jury's out on whether S likes the jacket..or not. The good news is...his parents do! I also made one for his elder cousin, Lucien, now 6...which I imagine served his younger brother too.

@megpicatilly
I'm not talented...I'm a knitter!
@kali66 The credit for this design goes to Elizabeth Zimmerman decd, the heroine and pioneer of knitting garments in one piece with revolutionary seaming. My knitting heroine and role model.

Wonderful looking jacket. Anyone who can knit is talented in my book.

This looks very nice. I pulled my hair out making a baby sized one (I don't care for EZ's conversational style of directions). Not sure I could do an adult size, although yours makes it look tempting.

Once again, you put your own work aside to knit something for somebody else, now you need to finish your own jacket... or you'll get your bum smacked!
