Vikings play chess

These latter day Vikings are nought but 100 metres from ‘Father...no more; son...ever proud’, my 30 July shot. Whilst it's well nigh impossible to take this shot in Ramsey's Parliament Street without traffic, I think it's fitting to see these warriors lending grace and favour to our daily lives, rather than the too often depiction of Vikings engaged in rape and pillage.

Not the kind of game you expect Vikings to be playing is it.
My ancestry is Viking, but I am sure they were the kind ones, ha ha.

We owe so much to the Vikings. They were warriors to be sure, but also explorers and inventors. A great nation.

Great capture of this neat sculpture...I watch the series Vikings on the History channel and they seemed a clever lot.

Where would York be without them?

A nice sculpture. Do you think they played chess?

I love this, the approach-ability is wonderful. IMHO, when a statue is placed high on a pedestal, the connection between the art and the viewer is challenged. Love your capture of this.

What an interesting and lovely piece of art. And great capture of it. I do feel intrigued and interested as I might if I was viewing the artwork personally
