Treasure, 23. Ramsey Bay Hotel Guests, early 1950's

Whilst this is dated 31 July...the year is not recorded...it would have been the early 1950s. I've tried n times to do a headcount and have not yet arrived at a consistent result. Circa 90 men, women and children are here. Dad is on the back row in the middle.

Iconic shot for its period?
Was it common to have shots of guests? Well composed for balance.

Indeed, Yes! Onesuch was taken every week and guests were able to buy copies. I've also got another of all the Staff walking along the prom, opposite the Hotel, grinning happily. The balanced composition would have been orchestrated by John Flower, the local photographer. In fact it was he who took the photo of me as a babe, posted here on 8 April.

I'm enjoying it too...yet keep finding more photos. I started this on a 'it seemed like a good idea at the time' basis, though more testing than I had anticipated. I may, emphasising 'may', indulge myself again. If so, I’ll do more prep as this has been very much 'a wing and a prayer' with zilch planning or balance.

What a terrific photo and a great idea to take group photos for the guests :) I, too, am loving your series!

This is such a stunning capture and I love how symmetrical and perfect the photographer worked in those days...
