Brambles are having a field day! by s4sayer

Brambles are having a field day!

The continuous dry, hot weather seems to have encouraged brambles and the like, more than I have ever previously noticed. These hooligan lime green leaves grow like creepers and then cascade against and choke the host shrubs behind and alongside them. Worse, they look so innocuous...just look at their thorns!

But do you gather the fruits of their labour? Nothing better than bramble jelly. Lovely capture.

I suspect these are Year 1 blackberries...strutting their stuff (thorns) and being this year's Hooligans of Nature. Next year they’ll be plaited! Ye-es re gathering the berries.

This works so well... especially in B&W - and viewing on black is mandatory!

Love how the lighter leaves form a line to lead the eye upward.
