Notre Dame de Paimpont, C15th

This statue was made for Paimpont Abbey and has received worldwide visitors since her installation, circa 700 years ago. Not surprisingly she has weathered/deteriorated significantly...and is to be restored. She is heavy and delicate with considerable wear and tear. A significant part of the challenge is actually moving her from this alcove where there is scant room for manoeuvre.

There is significant interest in her restoration. We'll keep you posted.
She's weathered worse storms than this one... she'll be around for a long while yet.

A beautiful statue of Our Lady...I love it weathered like this but can see she is delicate...will be interested in progress!

I really don't think about restoring old treasures like this. Should be an interesting comparison to see this along side the restored version.
