Paimpont Lake by s4sayer

Paimpont Lake

Although the Summer season has been and gone, people continue to come to Paimpont and enjoy walking around Paimpont Lake, the village itself. Paimpont Forest is out of bounds until 1 May, whilst animals hibernate and/or reproduce.
Oh I do so like this image! Like an old oil painting. Fav.

A lovely view of the abbey. I never heard of shutting down a park for those reasons, but I'll bet the animals could get very aggressive if you would disturb them during this season.

Beautiful scene. I love the subdued colours.

The ‘park’ is HUGE and has professional foresters who are responsible for its upkeep, particularly in the breeding season in Spring. In centuries long gone, nearly all of Brittany was forest. Mechanisation, animals for the eating, villages becoming towns etc. has enabled this huge area to be great draw for residents...and global visitors all year round. We are half an hour from Rennes, the capital of Brittany. This year...with lockdown, curfew etc. there have been many more visitors than we would normally experience at the height of the Summer season. By and large, our visitors are attracted by Nature and respect the extent and variety of its beauty.
