This ants nest is in our garden under a fine pine tree. The ants hurry and scurry about and it’s evident from their behaviour that they're well organised...and on message. The wooded stick appears to be where their entrance is. They move about in perfect order, carrying pine needles for use.
If you look at where their ‘entrance’ is, aka the stick, there is a leaf to the left with an ant carrying a pine needle...perhaps a caber for ants! We watched this ant for ages, fascinated by his dedication to the task.
@randystreat They're enlarging the nest that they built last year - they are fascinating to watch as Mrs S's picture shows and they travel quite some distance in their quest for more pine needles.
Hello Issi!
Lovely to hear from you, thank you.
We’re fine, Brexit looms. R is on the case...as lockdown or whatever it’s now being called. We’re enjoying splendid weather...and largely doing needs must, rather than engaging in headless chicken syndrome.
The Ants are a splendid diversion.
Very much touched by your concern. We’re on gardening leave!

Ladies...one and all, your concern is touching...thank you.
We’re fine and have benefited from a break. Richard is back on the block...and l’ll be there too in the coming days.
