Sail loft by sailingmusic

Sail loft

Busy area sail loft, workers on their coffee break.
I worked here for a summer in 1993, made sail bags, sail covers, dodgers, repairs, etc. This part of the loft is for sail repairs and making new sails. You sit at a sewing machine so half of you is below the floor and the sail can run smoothly along the floor while you are stitching. They are working on a roller furling jib, the head of which is my main photo for the day. Thanks for looking in.
So interesting & you worked there for a short time...... you must know the place well then ! Must be quite hard to work with I would think, is the sail cloth rather stiff & awkward to manouvre ?

@happypat large sails can be hard to move around but sliding around on the floor makes it easier.
@mittens @rhoing Thanks for our comments, sail lofts are very interesting places.
