Oil and Water 1

Playing with oil and water. I could not decide between these two. Please let me know what you think!

Wow I like this one as well! This one has a bit more colors, but if I absolutely HAD to choose... I like the "Planets" a tad more. Not exactly sure why.. just a personal preference I guess :) But they are both amazing shots!

Very cool experiment! I love them both!

This one reminds me of the colors you get when photographing a CD. I do like the bright colors, but like Kimberly, my personal preference is the "planet" shot. Great experiment!

Wow Sally how did you do this, I absolutely love it and find it difficult to choose between the two.
December 7th, 2012
I'd mount them side by side, huge!
December 7th, 2012
Oh wow. Love them both, but I lean a little to this one. Fab. I will have to try this some day. Is the color from refraction or did you put something behind it?

super cool

@leananiemand Simple set up - a clear glass bowl between to paint cans (about 20cm high) with some cds underneath at a slight angle and a torch shining onto them. Only use a very small amount of oil! Both of these links are useful: http://pamphotography.wordpress.com/2012/03/10/weekend-photography-project-oil-and-water-abstracts/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvQejjxg960
Have fun!
@tigerdreamer see my reply to Leana!

This is a fav! Just gorgeous!!!

Lovely shot really pretty!

This one for me. I had loads of fun doing these a few months ago - getting the right background makes all the difference. This one's just right.

i like the 3D-esque quality of this one. the circles are so arranged and lit to look like they curved back thus the illusion of dimension. the lighting in this case is great.
