We visited Nieu Bethesda which is well known for 'The Owl House'. Helen Martins made many sculptures of owls and camels and filled her garden with them. She used cement and glass bottles for her sculptures.
Copies of her owls are found all around the village. This group greeted us at the guest house we stayed at.

Get Pushed Challenge: I have been doing this challenge on and off...
Fabulous collection and lovely processing. I've been wanting to go to Nieu Bethesda for years but never managed it. We're off on a mini road trip next week so who knows - we may even be able to include it as we roam about the countryside ;)
@summerfield these are all positively sane compared to the actual garden of cement creatures created by Helen Martins! I will post some pics from her garden.
@kwiksilver I'm glad we stopped there. It's quaint, quirky and bizarre all at the same time. I think I would like to go back and investigate more. If you do go there try to include a visit to Sneeuberg brewery, it's quite lovely there. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures.
These fascinate me ever since I read a novel as a child. It was a ghost story about a girl who had made a cement owl with marbles for eyes and it had love in the eyes. The ghost came back to help her aunt find the owl.
