Harvey's Tree by salza

Harvey's Tree

My get pushed challenge from Kristen @kph129 - I'd like to see a 'Black and White Landscape'.

I spent a few days early in the week visiting one of our national game parks - Addo Elephant Park. This tree is know as Harvey's tree found on the drive called Harvey’s Loop. Harvey's loop is named after the Harvey family who provided a refuge to the last 16 remaining elephants on their farm before the proclamation of the Park. The Harvey’s farm was later incorporated into the Colchester (or Southern portion) area of the Park.

Fav. The winding road and loan tree create so much interest.

Doesn't work for me, sorry. Maybe a tighter crop? But you know what you wanted for your challenge.

What a lovely landscape and so beautiful in b&w. SO glad to know that the elephants are being well cared for. We lost one of pride and joy elephants at the Portland Zoo the other day. So sad...he had to be put down at the very young age of 32 or 36..not sure. Understand why, but still such a loss!!

Lovely composition and it looks so good in b&w.

@kwiksilver Gillian my husband said the same thing! Interestingly a closer crop didn't really work, it become very flat. I tried about 4 or 5 different crops, filters etc and this was the one that worked best. Maybe I should try changing the sky, bring in some cloud to give a different effect.

It's nice to see Harvey's Tree in context with the surrounding landscape. I know its for a challenge, but what did the colour one look like?

@dibzgreasley it's not too bad, I will post the colour version later.
