Greater Striped Swallow by salza

Greater Striped Swallow

For a number of years we have had a pair of Greater Striped Swallows nesting on our porch. This year, probably due to the extreme dry conditions it seems that they have decided not to build the usual tunnel into the nest. They have gotten quite used to us and allow us to get quite close to them.

Oh how cute! It must be wonderful to watch them grow and eventually fly out of the nest

How strange to see a nest without the tunnel entrance. As you say, it must be due to the weather!
