In the middle of nowhere near the panhandle of Oklahoma is this state park called Little Sahara. It is a desert of sand dunes on 1,600 acres.
My friend Linda asked that if we went to see the Little Sahara to pick her up a tee shirt. Her late brother used to ride his ATV here all the time. I braved the 25mph winds and my vertigo to climb up to the observation deck to see what we could see. Beginning to understand to a small degree how miserable the Dust Bowl must have been! Left my camera in the car and shot this with my iPhone. There were several riders out there. You could see the sand in the air from miles away. Many campgrounds there and more being built.
Sadly, the souvenir shops were closed, but I still got her a tee elsewhere but not of the Sahara .
