I don’t know if you ever heard of this girl, Heidi. When my daughter was a little girl she was fascinated at watching cartoons on tv about this little girl who lived with her grandfather in the Alps.
Heidi is actually a Swiss work of fiction, published in two parts as Heidi's years of learning and travel and Heidi makes use of what she has learned. It is a novel about the events in the life of a young girl in her grandfather's care, in the Swiss Alps. It was written as a book "for children and those who love children" (as quoted from its subtitle) in 1880 by Swiss author Johanna Spyri. Heidi is one of the best-selling books ever written and is among the best-known works of Swiss literature.
This was one of the many shots which I took from our coach window while travelling to Courmayer. It reminded me of this Heidi. Many of the other shots I snapped from the coach are just crap, either blurred or with reflections on the glass window.
Thank you all so much for looking and for your lovely comments on yesterday’s shot.
i've heard of heidi but can't remember the stories. for us, it's anne of green gables ... stories, tv shows, etc. lovely view of the mountains, beautiful shot.
It's actually quite a big cottage! But dwarfed by the mountains. It looks like you had a wonderful trip! I still have Heidi on my bookshelf from 50 years ago.
Anche se è stata scattata dal pullman è venuta molto bene questa foto! Conosco molto bene Heidi e la sua storia e anche a me succede spesso di pensare a lei quando sono in montagna ...
I think the story of Heidi is known world-wide! It's a classic children's book. And here in the States it was also a popular movie starring Shirley Temple. The movie has one blemish in its stellar history. One year, in the final minutes of a Super Bowl game (I apologize for not remembering the year and hubby is not home to confer with) when the title was down to the final seconds in overtime, the game was systematically pre-empted by the tv station which was airing the game so that the movie "Heidi" could be run as scheduled! You can imagine the backlash on that one!
