RAGS TO RICHES? by sangwann

RAGS TO RICHES?

Or is it the other way round? With just one or two exceptions it is always the other way round. This is the Dragonara Casino at the tip of Dragonara Point.

Built in 1870 as the summer residence of the Marquis Scicluna the Dragonara Palace opened as Malta’s first Casino in 1964. The Dragonara Casino was one of the first major projects to establish Malta as a prime tourist destination.
The Palace had vast grounds most of which have been developed. It now hosts a large 5* Hotel and a number of restaurants.
Tour de France: I was sorry to see Taransky suffer and loved his courage to keep on going till the end. Gallopin won the stage. I do not think, from what I've seen to date, that Nibali has any competitor for the final victory.
Many thanks for your wonderful comments. They encouraged me to be on the look out for the next super moon.
You are a regular night-owl Dione. Love your night shots.

I love that little buoy with its tiny reflections mirroring the larger reflection from the casino.

Oh, I agree Dione. I wanted to have a go at the tables when we visited Vegas but knew, instinctively that I would not know when to stop. Instead I set an amount I wouldn't mind losing and spent it all in the one armed bandits! I love the image especially the reflection of the lights. Fav

Very nice reflections... it looks both lonely and inviting, out there on the point. I like the little buoy, a pinpoint of light, out on the right. Interesting history, as well.

Lovely light reflected..and a great story as well. Do you have to take a boat to get to the Casino?

July 18th, 2014
Great night image.

For the owners of this establishment, it was probably riches to more riches. That inner golden glow of the building makes it look mighty enticing tho. I like the purple lane of light from the sign.

Your compliment and fav on my Gilded Grasses pic is most appreciated.

Love the softness of the water.

Love the little buoy and its reflection - it reminds me of a child with his/her nose pressed up against the window of a toy or sweet shop and looking in longingly.

Nice shot! Casinos are becoming very popular in our area too and several resorts are trying to get them approved for operation. Not too many locals want them though.
