Had a great week-end with the camera. Please enlarge for best view, thank you.
I had intended to continue with my Tuscany holiday pictures after my ‘Nostalgia’ shot but that wasn’t to be. Last Friday, Ian (my son-in-law) asked me if I wanted to go watch the start of the Middlesea Race with him the next day and I immediately said ‘yes’. I had forgotten about it. We went and I had a great time capturing the event. Not so Ian who brought his son (and my grandson), Max, with him but Max wasn’t prepared to keep still and watch.
Participation for the event was a record once more with participating yachts coming from all over the world. The Middlesea Race which is organised by the Malta Yacht Club is the most important yachting race in the Mediterranean.
This is my first posting of the event – more will come in the coming days. On the left is one of the Russian entries for the event – I liked its colourful dress-up. Then come from left to right: top row: a boat from Slovenia, next, one from Great Britain and next one from the Netherlands; bottom row: a USA entry, next a Spanish entry and finally an Italian entry. You can see their country code on the sails – e.g. GBR = Great Britain; NED = Netherlands; SLO = Slovenia, ect.
Thank you very much for looking and for the lovely comments and the fav’s on yesterday’s picture.
Excellent collage Dione, the yachts look great with the wonderful architecture as a back drop. Love that quaint little boat and sightseers in front of the Russian yacht. :)
Instant fav! - really superb collage, Dione. Sounds a great event. In case you don't spot it, here's my response re your football information, thank you: Yes, I know half back, Jimmy Dickinson played there for Portsmouth FC when they were a great team - 1950s! I played left back and later inside left. I'm not sure what they call these positions now. Two at back, three midfielders, five at front in a sort of 'W' - centre forward, right and left wingers, and inside right and inside left just a bit back from those three. Those were the days, my 365 Friend, we thought they'd never end - but they did!
You've put this collage together so well, Dione. The colors are great. Like the differences in the sails - never noticed those with the flat tops before - So nice to see that many different countries represented in one image. Looking forward to more.
Fantastic shots!!! Wonderful collage of all these beautiful sail boats!!! Love all the different painted sails and the blue water and blue sky!!! I love to see them sailing!!! These are excellent!!! Instant fav!!!
A great collage of those nice sailing boats. Fav. A bit different from my pic.`s but I love all boats except the big cruise ships. Those are floating flats
