The crew on this GBR (Great Britain) boat were testing the spinnaker against the wind before start time. I loved how it was taking in the wind. I think that this is the most beautiful of all sails. I added two shots of the crew because I hate posting upright shots on their own. The white dots on the hull are sparkles of the sea reflected by the sun.
Behind is the Lower Barrakka on top of the walls of Valletta. That structure you see is the Siege Bell Monument in honour of the fallen during WWII.
News from the race. An extract from the official site: “Esimit Europa 2 (SLO) has taken line honours in the 2014 Rolex Middle Sea Race. Igor Simcic's Maxi, Esimit Europa 2 crossed the finish line for the Rolex Middle Sea Race outside the Royal Malta Yacht Club. Tuesday, 21 October at 22hrs 42 mins 5 seconds in an elapsed time of 3days 10hrs 42mins 5secs” And that was the large all blue yacht I have shown in previous pictures.
Now we will have to wait for all the yachts to arrive to know the overall winner.
Many thanks for looking and for your lovely comments and the fav's on yesterday's picture.
These are big boats and I'm surprised that NZ doesn't feature here. I know that Britain likes to compete in these wonderful and historic races! Really great photos!
