This is the façade of St Vincent De Paul Home for the Elderly.
It was built in the late 19th century during the governorship of Sir Gasparre Le Merchant when Malta was a British Colony. Although the façade remains the same many alterations, improvements and extensions have been carried out through the years. It is probably the first home for the elderly built on the Maltese Islands. Today it houses over 1000 aged residents. Today, there are many more homes for the elderly spread around the Maltese Islands, some are privately owned and a few others are on a partnership scheme between the Maltese Government and the private sector.
Joke: Morris, an 82 year-old man, went to the doctor to get a physical.
A few days later, the doctor saw Morris walking down the street with a gorgeous young woman on his arm.
A co uple of days later, the doctor spoke to Morris and said, 'You're really doing great, aren't you?'
Morris replied, 'Just doing what you said, Doc: 'Get a hot mamma and be cheerful.''
The doctor said, 'I didn't say that.. I said, 'You've got a heart murmur; be careful.'
Thank you so much for looking and for the lovely comments on yesterday's picture.
A majestic and stately building, nicely captured. I am laughing out loud this morning because of your joke. I really appreciate you adding humor to my day!
What a magnificent old building. I love the architecture style with all the intricate details and you captured a great angle from the courtyard. Your jokes always make me smile :-)
Nice use of the selective color on the flag. This building could look very austere, but the color is a nice little lift. Great shot! And a smile and laugh on the joke.
The Picture as well, it Looks like a Palace! What a great place to "retire" in
fav
I think Morris had the right idea!
