Yes, except for the clock mechanism and the dial which was painted for me by my brother-in-law, I made this beautiful Maltese clock myself. Those who have been with me for some time will remember the first clock I made months ago. This one, which has a better finish than that one, I gave this one to my brother-in-law who is my godson and only 2 years older than my son. Now I will soon have another one ready which I will keep for myself and then 2 more – one for my son and the other for my daughter. I have put my wrist watch next to it to give it scale.
Maltese ‘Tal-Lira’ clocks come in very varied sizes and décor. Mine are free copies of a clock manufactured by a well-known Maltese clockmaker – Michelangelo Sapiano (1826-1912) and which was on the cover of a book issued by Patrimonju Malta (Maltese Heritage) on Maltese clocks. A true Maltese clock may cost thousands of Euros.
Joke: Sarah asked someone what time it was, and they told her it was 4:45. With a puzzled look on her face Sarah replied, “You know, it’s the weirdest thing. I have been asking that question all day, and each time I get a different answer.”
Tomorrow I will start posting some shots from our Gozo weekend of last week.
Thank you so much for looking and for all your lovely comments. They are very much appreciated.
