Shot taken on day 6 of our Black Forest vacation – 1st July 2015
This is a view of Lake Schluchsee. We were lodged in a b&b on the opposite side from where I took this shot. We made it fast back from St Blasien as restaurants in this area will not take orders after 9.00pm and we were hungry after a day out.
The Schluchsee is the highest reservoir in Germany and also the largest lake in the Black Forest. It is part of the Schluchsee hydropower station complex. The water of the reservoir is relatively cool even in summer because of its high elevation. In Summer, it is a popular local resort.
Joke: A doctor in Schlusee was famous in the area for always catching large fish from the lake. One day while he was on one of his frequent fishing outings he got a call that a woman at a neighboring farm was giving birth. He rushed to her aid and delivered a healthy baby boy.
The farmer had nothing to weigh the baby with so the doctor used his fishing scales. The baby weighed 20lb.
Thank you very much for looking and for the lovely comments on yesterday's picture.
A beautiful view and capture of this nice country and lake.
In our country there is also a lot of opposite to the new windmills. People want them but not in there backyard.
