From the 4rd day of our Sicily holiday - 22st September, 2015.
There is no going to Sicily without a visit to Mount Etna. Through the good offices of the proprietor of Palazzo Giovanni we hired a personal guide to take us up to the mountain. We didn’t go up to the highest peak but we had a full day touring the best areas of the mountain.
This shot is from the top of an extinct crater towards the cable car which takes people up to the top of the mountain. I rode that cable car many years ago with my son Jean-Pierre when he was still around ten years old.
NEWS: Last Saturday Malta won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest – second time in three years.
This weekend, in Malta, there will be the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, attracting many heads of government and thousands of dignitaries. Queen Elizabeth and her husband, Philip, and Prince Charles with his wife Camilla will be attending. Security is already at the highest level with British security forces giving a helping hand to our Government. In the meantime, seven Syrians with false passports have been stopped at three different Italian airports from flying to Malta; another was stopped at Malta International Airport. Some Maltese residents are worried in view of what happened in Paris. Hope everything goes well. For one, I will stay away from areas they will be in.
Joke: Four blondes and a brunette went mountain climbing one day. They were all friends, but the four blondes were closer to each other then they were to the brunette. They started climbing up the mountain by pulling themselves up with a rope. Halfway up, they noticed that the rope was slipping.
"There's too much weight for the rope to support all of us." the brunette said. "One of us is gonna have to jump."
All the blondes were screaming and crying because they didn't want to risk loosing each other.
"I'm very moved by your friendship." the brunette said to the blondes. "Because of that, I'll jump."
The blondes were so touched by her courage , that they all started clapping.
Apologies to all blondes.
