From the last day of our Sicily holiday - 23 September, 2015.
We were all invited to join our host for a boat trip on his cabin cruiser along the east coast of Sicily. Denise, Ian and Max went but we pulled out because Christine was afraid the sea would make her sick. So we went off to spend the morning in Acireale. We didn’t see much but three churches adjacent to each other were a joy to visit. The first one was Acireale Cathedral and these are two shots from the interior of the cathedral. I posted a b&w shot showing the outside a few days ago.
Acireale Cathedral is dedicated to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was declared the seat of the Bishop of Acireale in 1870. The present cathedral building is a 17th-century building with significant additions from each succeeding century. The interior is 17th century Baroque.
Joke: A drunk staggers into a Catholic Church, enters a confessional booth, sits down but says nothing. The Priest coughs a few times to get his attention but the drunk continues to sit there in silence. Finally, the Priest pounds three times on the wall. The drunk mumbles, "ain't no use knockin; there's no paper on this side either."
Thank you very for looking and for the lovely comments and the fav's on yesterday's picture.

If you do a tour through our country you won`t see those churches. You`ve to visit the small villages .
