VILLA ROSA by sangwann

VILLA ROSA

This shot has a lot of meaning for me and Christine and it is appropriate that I post it today - Valentine’s Day.
In July of forty-five years ago Christine and I were to have our wedding reception at this lovely villa but to our misfortune, some weeks earlier (I forgot how many) the manager of the villa phoned us up to tell us that a storm from the previous day had caused a lot of damage to the place and it would not be possible to have it ready by the time of the wedding. Thank God the invitations hadn’t been printed yet and we managed to make arrangements to have the venue transferred to a chic hotel and everything worked out very smoothly.
I have tried to search the net for the story of the Villa but haven’t found anything. I heard some time ago that the villa was built by some nobleman for his wife, or lover. Today the villa forms part of a sophisticated complex of business enterprises related mostly to tourism.
Thank you so much for looking and for the comments and fav’s on yesterday’s picture.
Looks like it would have been a romantic venue for your wedding.

What a story! And this is a beautiful site -- it would have been a special place for the wedding, of course, but it's the people who matter.

Wonderful capture of the stone work and building. Such a nice story and good to know you found somewhere else for your reception. The view from the tower would be great.
