Looking out from one of the loopholes of Fort Manoel on the Valletta side you can see some interesting views. This time it is the church of Our Lady of Carmel.
Fort Manoel was built in the early 18th century. It stands on Manoel Island, a small island in Marsamxett Harbour and was built to guard the approaches on the west side of Valletta . Both the island and the fort take their name from the Spanish Grand Master Fra' Emmanuel de Rohan-Polduc who financed the building of this grand fort out of his own pockets. The fort was meticulously restored some years ago. It had suffered a lot of damage during WWII.
Thank you so much for looking and for the comments and fav’s on yesterday’s picture.
