The choir of Seville’s Cathedral – beautifully carved in wood and located right in the middle of the cathedral dividing the nave into two parts. I think this is typical for Spanish cathedrals because I have seen them in Toledo and elsewhere in Spain and don’t recall seeing them in any other country that I have been to.
The Seville cathedral was built from 1401–1519 after the Reconquista - the recapture of Andalusia by the Spanish Christian Kings from Moorish domination. It stands on the former site of the city's mosque. It it is the third largest cathedral in the world. In 1511 the dome collapsed and was rebuilt. In 1888 the dome again collapsed due to an earthquake that destroyed many precious objects that were located right below it. The repair work did not finish until 1903.
